Set-Up Help

If you are interested in Hill Rallying, whether competitor or marshal, have you ever wondered what the Iceland Hill Rally is like?

I have a very special offer to anyone who is as fit or fitter than I am. Yes you need to be able to spend 3 to 5 long days out in the stunning Iceland Highlands with me (so there is a down side), helping to mark the 600 kilometer route. Basically, it is to hammer in wooden stakes or place route markers, along with stage furniture boards, special Zone markers etc along the route.

The Iceland Hill Rally does not allow pace notes but we do issue a safety guide road book to competitors. They are not allowed any GPS device. This guide describes the route and major hazards, each line is numbered and each numbered line has a corresponding post/stake hammered into the ground and numbered.

There is no pay, but Frances and I will provide B&B breakfast and evening meal when we are back home. Lunch and day time snacks will be your cost or shared. You will also need to buy your own flight. But the rest is free – well almost. A quick search showed return flight, with Icelandair, hold and cabin bag, from Manchester as 390 GBP return, flexi fayre.

Dates I need your help: 26 July to 3rd August. You are welcome stay longer, the rally is 5th to 8th August.

Bring waterproof and tropical gear and good walking boots. Wooly hat can be needed as can sunglasses. Phone with USB charge cable.
Yes you can bring a mate but they need to physically help and you share a twin room with private en-suite.
