Hill rallying is about endurance, considering the total picture, driving for a finish it is not a dash in the forest or gravel track.
So you need to read the road ahead both long distance and close up for those stones that got dislodged.
The other reason we do not allow pace notes, here in Iceland, is it reduces ground damage and eliminates the possibility of collisions with tourists.
There penalties if you are found with notes. However notes made when you first ran a stage, that is repeated in the same rally, are allowed.
We do not allow GPS devices with mapping displays, includes mobile phones.
A GPS device to record and show distances (Trip Meters) are allowed.
A map system can be used for liaison sections.
